Dr. Trent Molter is the founder and CEO of SKYRE, a leader in hydrogen and carbon dioxide recycling and conversion. SKYRE’s H2RENEW greatly enhances the value proposition for hydrogen in the metals, semiconductor, industrial gas, energy and other industries. Dr. Molter has built 30,000 hydrogen systems for industrial, energy, space and military applications over his 37-year career. He previously co-founded Proton Energy Systems, a world-class developer and manufacturer of hydrogen systems where he led business, engineering, and stack production to commercialize a successful line of PEM electrolyzers. He was instrumental in capitalization of the Company, raising over $250M in investment and development funds. Proton was acquired by NEL ASA to form the world’s largest electrolyzer company. Dr. Molter started his career as a contract engineer working at General Electric and served as a Technology Liaison during an acquisition of the hydrogen business by United Technologies Corporation. He continued at UTC where he developed cutting edge electrolyzers for undersea and space life support, commercial hydrogen, and aircraft emergency oxygen.
Dr. Molter holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University, an M.S. in Metallurgy from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a Certificate in Pollution Prevention in Manufacturing from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from The University of Connecticut. He is an inventor on over 35 patents for hydrogen systems, processes and materials, and has authored or co-authored numerous articles and papers on the design of hydrogen systems. He has given numerous talks about the business of hydrogen and continues to serve as an active advisor to several successful entrepreneurial companies.
